The WaterQ project aims to develop a solution that will integrate various data sources (public health, water utilities, sensors, open data) and different types of data (laboratory measurements, sensor data, meteorological data), which have not been integrated on a single platform before.
By processing large amounts of data and using predictive analytics and machine learning, the goal is to provide the public health system and the water supply sector with timely information for informed decision-making.
The WaterQ solution, with its innovative components, will significantly improve the water control process by providing interconnected services that currently do not exist as part of a single system.
The solution supports water utilities and the public health system by:
Wider application of IoT sensors in various types of water supply systems for continuous real-time collection of the most relevant data and risk identification;
Establishing a system for using meteorological/climate data from open sources to quantify and assess water risks from weather conditions;
Establishing an early warning system to identify potential risks;
Optimizing parameters analyzed to determine which information needs more or less intensive monitoring, depending on the level of risk to water safety;
Optimizing the need for monitoring parasites as an indicator that has not been previously tracked in Croatia;
Providing information on the probability of certain events occurring in the water supply system in the future;
Establishing a system for informed management and communication with water utility service users.
The project consortium consists of Ericsson Nikola Tesla as the applicant, in collaboration with the Croatian Institute of Public Health, Telemetris d.o.o., and Gauss d.o.o. as partners.
The goal of the project is to develop the WaterQ solution (a digital platform with fully integrated components, a mobile application, and the WaterQ IoT sensor device) to improve the water quality control process for human consumption, optimize risk assessment methods, and further accelerate and simplify informed decision-making in public health and water supply systems.
The implementation includes two phases of research and development: Industrial Research and Experimental Development.
The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Regional Development Fund under the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014 – 2020 in the call: " Povećanje razvoja novih proizvoda i usluga koji proizlaze iz aktivnosti istraživanja i razvoja – faza II."
Project implementation period: August 26, 2020 – August 26, 2023
Total project value: 16,395,227.20 HRK
EU co-financing amount: 8,855,376.41 HRK
