From the past into the future
Agriculture and farming continue to have a low rate of technology adoption, lagging behind other industries in modernization.
The winemaking sector is no exception, with many wineries still relying on handwritten notes and logs to manage their production processes.
This traditional approach makes it challenging to monitor production quality and replicate the unique flavors of exceptional vintages, more so with uncertain climate conditions.
Smart digital solution for agriculture
FERIT identified critical gaps in the agricultural sector's technological advancements and set out to develop an innovative agro-digital solution.
They partnered with Gauss to create a cutting-edge platform integrating AI neural networks, on-site IoT devices, and a unifying platform for recording and tracking agricultural production.
With our digital platform expertise, FERIT was able to create an adaptive technological system for a more resilient, future-ready agricultural industry, starting with wineries.

What is ESIA?
Expert System for Intelligent Agriculture is a blend of smart technologies that enables accurate data collection and analysis, resulting in a system for modern food production and processing.
How was ESIA created?
ESIA was created by integrating IoT wine measuring devices, AI neural networks for data analysis and prediction, and a unified platform that allows users to view collected information and input new data.
Results and benefits
A collaborative effort of FERIT, Gauss, Faculty of Food Technology Osijek, and Krauthaker, Jenečić, and Horvat wineries helped create a user-friendly platform that follows a vintage from grape to bottle.
With business management and production specific modules, ESIA was adopted by three wineries to track their vineyard, barrel, and cellar conditions, while recording recipes of produced vintages.

Our experience and close collaboration have helped FERIT create an expert system that helps modernize the production and processing of crops in controlled conditions.
With a smart system created specifically for use in agriculture, we have encouraged their use in agriculture automation and digitalization.
Working in partnership on a project was a positive experience. We had no problems with the Gauss team in terms of communication and collaboration. The team brought valuable expertise, especially in terms of software development, and we appreciated their commitment to ensure the success of the project.
